Hello All,
Thank you everyone for a great start to the session! A lot of great feed back on the format and play. We will post these Wrap Ups for the next couple of weeks while we all learn to adjust to the rules and format of play. There were a number of questions that did come up during play that we would like to address so we are all on the same page during the session.
- Are you permitted to wear earbuds or head phones? - No, for electronic devices. Yes, to old-school earplugs to suppress sound.
- Are breaks permitted during an individual match? - There should be no breaks during your 30-minute match. With that being said, if you need to use the restroom, then use it during your opponent's racking time. Play should be as continous as possible. A 30-minute match should not take any longer that 45 minutes to complete.
- Coaching - There is no sideline coaching for any players involved in a match. All players with an UpScore of 450 and below are allowed one timeout, during a called Extention, for each game. The Captain, designated Coach or Player can call the timeout/extention. Once called, it has to be used. The Extention (30 seconds) is added to the shot clock. The player still needs to complete their turn within the alloted shot clock time.
- Players should verify their score prior to breaking the next rack. The tablets will lag sometimes due to network traffic. The Timekeeper's device should reflect the correct score and match time. (There will be a separate article sent to all players providing more details about the timekeeping & scoring of matches).
- All matches are between ONLY the 2 players in that match. Ultimate Pool is an "all ball foul" league. Any fouls can ONLY be called by either of the 2 current players. If you know you have committed a foul, CALL IT ON YOURSELF. If there is a disagreement, the ruling goes to the shooter.
- If there is a potential "close hit," either of the 2 players can call an "ALL STOP" & ask for a neutral observer to watch the hit. This observer should be agreed upon by both players.
